In My Mailbox (3)

In My Mailbox is a weekly Meme hosted by The Story Siren

The Light-Bearer’s Daughter by O.R. Melling (Paperback/Amulet/August 1st, 2008)
Dana has few memories of her mother, who disappeared when she was small. But she has always dreamed, despite her father’s discouragement, that her mother would come back one day. When her dad decides to leave Ireland and take a job across the ocean in Canada, Dana is heartbroken. How can she leave her home and the only chance of seeing her mother again? She runs away, high into the fairy mountains of Ireland. Following ancient paths, with a mysterious wolf companion by her side, Dana encounters a world of tragic enchantment and fairy romance, and discovers a great secret about herself.

Faerie Wars by Herbie Brennan (Paperback/Bloomsbury USA Children’s Books/September 1st, 2004)
Henry Atherton thinks his life is spinning out of control. But nothing prepares him for the invisible portal in old man Fogarty’s backyard . . . and the unexpected stranger who comes through it.

Pyrgus Malvae, crown prince of the Faerie realm, is on the run. Too many people want the rebellious young heir dead: a scheming sorcerer, a powerful demon, the malignant leader of the Faeries of the Night, and maybe even a hidden traitor within his father’s court.

Henry and Pyrgus come from very different worlds, but it may be up to Henry to save all of Faerie from being conquered by the Nightside, even if it means crossing over to a magical realm where nothing is ever what it seems . . . and no one can be trusted.

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder (Paperback/Mira/November 21st, 2008)
ABout to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooma in the palace--and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.

And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly's Dust--and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison.

As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can't control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren't so clear...

My pile of books to read just keeps growing and not dwindling. I don't know if that's a bad thing though...

Great books. I have the entire series from Melling, but have yet to read them. I know that sounds bad, but I will get to them soon. Poison Study is also in my Library and yes that is a great book.

Enjoy your reads :)

Ok, I am going to take a guess here and say that they are re-releasing O.R. Melling's series because all of a sudden everyone seems to have it. I got my copies a decade ago and I loved them! I hope you do, too!
