Blood Promise

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

Release Date: August 25st, 2009
Publisher: Razorbill
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 503
Overall:

How far will Rose go to keep her promise?
The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir’s Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them. . . including Dimitri.
He’d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?
Let me just start by saying, Oh My Gosh. I love this series and this book did not let me down one bit. It picks up right where the other one left off and throws you immediately into the action, giving the reader almost exactly what they want to read while throwing in a few surprises.

You get to know more about Dimitri in this one, where he comes from and who his family is. It also gives a new view on the Bond of Lissa and Rose by showing a different type of connection, letting on just how strong and powerful this bond could become if it hasn’t gotten there altogether. Through this book, you learn more about the characters and the bonds of friendship, love, and family that they all share.

The writing was amazing. I love how Richelle wrote the parts that involved Lissa. I was slightly worried that she would either cut out Lissa from this book since Rose would be in Russia, or that it would be overly tacky in keeping her that would be completely out of character for Rose. Instead she did it in a great way and I loved the way the story lines ended up together.

I cannot wait for Spirit Bound to come out. I desperately need more to the story.

Shadow Kiss

Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead

Release Date: November 13th, 2008
Publisher: Razorbill
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 443
Overall:

Is Rose's fate to kill the person she loves most? It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy, and Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since Mason's death, Rose hasn't been feeling quite right. She has dark flashbacks in the middle of practice, can't concentrate in class, and has terrifying dreams about Lissa. But Rose has an even bigger secret . . . .She's in love with Dimitri. And this time, it's way more than a crush.

Then Strigoi target the academy in the deadliest attack in Moroi history, and Dimitri is taken. Rose must protect Lissa at all costs, but keeping her best friend safe could mean losing Dimitri forever.
This book just choked me up. It was full of action that was intense it had me gripping the book tightly in my hands.

The relationship between all the characters intensified. Rose is still secretly in love with Dimitri. Christian and Rose become better friends as they team up in her protection practice. They not only become friends but also a fighting force which is incredible in the action scene.

This book is my favorite in the series. It had me in tears at the end, and those of you who have read it, know why. It was just too much for me to handle. I cannot wait for Blood Promise to come out.

Frostbite

Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Release Date: April 10th, 2008
Publisher: Razorbill
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 336
Overall:

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians--including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if handto- hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks...This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...
Richelle Mead did not disappoint in her sequel to Vampire Academy. The story picks up almost immediately where the first one left off, throwing the reader right back into the action. It was intense and nerve racking, and yet loving and exciting at the same time.

The characters are even more loveable. Rose becomes the instant heroine yet again and it is not because her life is so simple. You simply want her to have the best and yet trouble is never far behind for her. I was extremely frustrated at points with Dimitri when things did not go the way I wanted it to between them.

However, I was not disappointed with the ending and it only left me wanting more. It is too much to wait for books to come out and makes me extremely exasperated when others get to read them first.

Can’t wait for the others!

Vampire Academy

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Release Date: August 16th, 2007
Publisher: Razorbill
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 332
Overall:

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school; it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's, the very place where they're most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigos, the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires make Lissa one of them forever.
After the final book in the Twilight Saga came out, I was thirsty (like many Twilight fans) for more books about Vampires. Scouring the local Barnes and Noble, I found this book and was tentative about buy it. In fact, I didn’t buy it until the third or fourth time of having picked it up. And I’m glad that I finally did.

The plot line is highly entertaining. It took the typical school setting and twisted it into a new world where these characters live. I love the true chemistry between Rose and Dimitri even though it’s forbidden. The typical bad boy character is somewhat new since Christian isn’t the ‘loner’ because of his own choices, but because of the opinions of his peers about his parents.

The overall story was great. I can’t wait for Blood Promise to come out.

Reviews for the other books coming soon.
